Aah! California - II The road trip...

Up early in the morning, refreshed by the awesome sights in SFO, it was time to hit the road. The road took a steep swerve left, descending to sea level, giving us the first sight of the ocean.

Mile after mile, slipping by the flaming red Mazda, travelling south, with the great Pacific on the right, making good ground ....

detouring now & then, to check out a beach/ a lighthouse ... sighted these spooky trees en route.

This is a privately owned island, complete with restaurants/ lodging et al.

Some random images along the route ...

Aah! California

This was long over due. My visit to california last November saw me come back with some breathtaking shots.

My 2MP Sony cybershot DSC-P2 has paid for itself over the last 4-5 years of clicking. This blog is more like a tribute to the equipment as much as for the awesome beauty of the places.

It was my 10 day affair with California/Arizona & Nevada that kicked off in San Fransisco. En route, the Treasure Island, you come across the "Old Anchor" as seen in this picture against the SFO city skyline. The Treasure Island is an artificial island created from debris from the Golden Gate sight. It is connected to the city by the bay bridge.

And perhaps the city's biggest icon: the Tramway. No commuters, just tourists. The deep blue waters & the SFO fog in the backdrop make this one of my favorite snaps taken.

If i had to caption the image above, i'd settle for "Jail Bird". The (in)famous Alcatraz jail in the back drop. The most amazing part about that jail is that, an inmate can see life going on as usual, yet cannot think of an escape.

The Golden Gate Bridge. The gateway to SFO. I personally like the light and the reflection off the water. Here is a closer look at what was once, one of the 7 wonders of the modern world.

This is sunset on Stinson beach. i got this beautiful shot of a couple on the beach taking in the awesome sight and celebrating life in general. Stinson is a beautiful sleepy town beyond the SFO city area. The way to get there is an amazing descent down some hills. This was Halloween's and the whole town was lit up with carved pumkins, with noisy drunkards in the backdrop. the coffee i had at a local grocery was simply amazing.

This ended my day out in SFO. Me & Mahesh were looking forward to hitting the road the next day. No ordinary road this. California State Route 1: One of the most scenic routes in the US.
